ACQUISITION
opening statement
Works by Monsieur LaMont are placed with private collectors, galleries, and institutions committed to the long-term stewardship of the work.
Each acquisition is approached as a curatorial decision - guided by alignment, context, and legacy rather than transaction alone. Placement is limited and considered to ensure the integrity of the work across time, space, and audience.
the acquisition process
1. The Inquiry
Collector submits a formal expression of interest - not a cart or a purchase button. A curated inquiry form that asks which piece draws them, and why.
Collector is directed to monsieurlamont.com to experience the full cinematic context of the work before proceeding.
A 48-72 hour hold is placed on the piece during review - no piece is available to multiple collectors simultaneously.
2. The Collector Conversation
A personal call or message exchange between Monsieur LaMont (or representative) and the prospective collector. This is not a sales call - it is a conversation about resonance.
The collector shares how the piece and its cinematic scene affected them. This becomes part of the acquisition record.
Monsieur LaMont retains the right of refusal. The work chooses its home as much as the collector chooses the work.
3. The Acquisition Terms
A formal acquisition agreement is issued - not an invoice. It includes provenance details, print specifications, and frame certification.
Terms include a first-right-of-refusal clause: if the collector ever sells, Monsieur LaMont has the right to repurchase or approve the next collector.
A 50% reservation payment secures the piece; the balance is due before white-glove delivery.
Each piece is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity and a sealed collector's dossier - including the artist's written intention behind the work in the visual album coffee table book.
4. The Handover
The piece ships in custom archival packaging with white-glove handling. Local collectors may arrange a private installation at an additional cost.
The collector can opt into an on-camera interview with Monsieur LaMont discussing the acquisition and relationship to the work.
The acquisition is formally recorded in Monsieur LaMont's Provenance Registry - a living archive of every piece and its collector
5. The Ongoing Relationship
Collectors enter the inner circle: first access to new works, invitations to private viewings, and direct correspondence with Monsieur LaMont's as the body of work grows.
Annual provenance updates are issued - documenting the market context, exhibition history, and evolving significance of each piece.
The relationship with Monsieur LaMont does not end at purchase. Collectors are patrons of a body of work in formation.
acquisition inquiry
Each piece by Monsieur LaMont is a singular - acquired with intention, held with care. Before proceeding, we invite you to experience the cinematic scene paired with this work at monsieurlamont.com. This form is the beginning of a conversation, not a transaction
